Performing Arts Coordinator
Long Bay College is a co-educational secondary school located in a peaceful location near Long Bay Beach and the new Long Bay Village. The school opened in 1975 and has over 2000 students with approximately 170 teaching and support staff combined.
We are seeking an organised, energetic and collaborative Performing Arts Coordinator to support our vibrant Performing Arts Faculty. This combined position plays a key role in ensuring the smooth running of rehearsals, performances, events, and day-to-day music department operations.
About the Role
This position provides high-quality administrative and logistical support across the Performing Arts, with responsibilities spanning event coordination, music operations, and student support. You’ll work closely with the Head of Performing Arts, HOD Music, teaching staff, students, and external providers to help deliver exceptional performing arts experiences for our school community.
Key Responsibilities
Performing Arts Coordination
- Assist with planning and scheduling rehearsals, performances, and events.
- Coordinate logistics for school productions, including venue setup, ticketing, and front of house duties.
- Liaise with staff, students, whānau, and external providers to support performing arts programmes.
- Support budgeting processes and resource procurement.
- Promote performing arts activities through school communication channels.
- Manage EOTC processes, including applications, quotes, invoices, and follow-ups with parents/caregivers.
Music Technician Responsibilities
- Maintain, catalogue, and organise sheet music, instruments, and equipment.
- Support itinerant music programmes and manage performance uniforms.
- Assist with audio needs including sound checks and recording for ensembles.
- Ensure music teaching and rehearsal spaces are well organised and functional.
- Provide administrative support for music events, assessments, and competitions.

Qualifications and Experience
- Experience in event coordination or performing arts administration.
- Knowledge of school performing arts environments (desirable).
- Technical experience or certification in audiovisual or music operation is advantageous but not required.
This is a permanent, part-time position of 30 hours per week, with the option to increase up to 35 hours during peak periods. Hours can be arranged flexibly to support the needs of the faculty. This is a term time only role (40 weeks per year).
This position sits within Grade 3 of the Support Staff in Schools’ Collective Agreement (Step dependant on experience). Remuneration between $29.52 to $31.41 per hour.
You must be eligible to work in New Zealand to apply for this position. Appointment is subject to a satisfactory police vet.
