School Nurse (fixed term full-time)


Long Bay College is a co-educational secondary school located in a peaceful location near Long Bay Beach and the new Long Bay Village. The school opened in 1975 and has approximately 1800 students with 150 teaching and support staff combined.

We are seeking to employ a Registered Nurse in our Student Wellbeing Centre that offers students a holistic approach to health care, by providing a range of services, in partnership with the school and community.

This is a fixed term full-time position for Term 2, 2024 (29 April to 5 July), working from 8:30am to 4:30pm.

Support Staff in Schools’ Collective Agreement June 2022 to December 2024.

Remuneration between $35.00 to $41.00 per hour.

We seek an experienced Registered Nurse who is passionate about youth health and connecting with our Rangatahi.

The position will include tasks such as:

  • Ensuring the Health Centre is a welcoming safe space for students
  • Assessing all students and staff who require medical treatment, making referrals where required
  • Monitor and administer medication and health plans
  • Promoting all available health services, liaising as required
  • Reviewing new students health records to identify health needs
  • Identify and refer any at risk students
  • Assist students to make responsible decisions regarding their own health
  • Assist with medical emergencies
  • Maintain and update register of all visits
  • Provide updates to the Pastoral Care team
  • Update, maintain and replenish first aid kits
  • Working with the other members of our Wellbeing team to deliver holistic wellbeing services and support to our students and staff
  • Maintain accurate details within our Student Management System
